You probably agree that sometimes it is hard to focus. In the crazy and fast-paced world we live in, there are many distractions. Whether we want to focus on an emotional goal, such as feeling love in all that we do, to a literal goal like working out everyday, it is easy to steer off course. Here are tips and tricks on how to stay focused on your intentions.
1. Have a daily theme to enhance your focus
Daily themes and intentions are wonderful ways to stay focused. At the beginning of the day, write down your intention. Set alarms on your phone throughout the day that remind you of the theme. Concentrate on the theme in all that you do.
For example, let's say your theme is gratitude. As much as you can, feel and express gratitude. As you eat, express gratitude to your food. As you shower, express gratitude to your body. When you are with friends, talk about gratitude. Let gratitude fill you up.
2. Utilize conscious tools to focus on the task at hand
Conscious tools are wonderful allies to help you focus on the goal at hand. They promote the goal further into your conscious mind. Conscious tools often incorporate one of the five senses. Every time you see, hear, smell, feel the tool, it promotes the goal time and time again. Use the conscious tool that best suits you.
For example, let's say your intention is to feel peace in your life. You can wear peaceful colors to promote that peace. You can listen to peaceful music. You can draw a peace sign on a sticky note and put it on your desk. You can have crystals for peace around your home or with you. You can wear an outfit that makes you feel or physically feels peaceful.
3. Take one small step at a time to achieve your goals
Tapping into the mindset of: one small step each day is a wonderful way to build your focusing muscle. Rome wasn't build in a day, and this applies to our intentions as well. If we think we have to do everything right then, it will probably cause us to feel stressed. Do you agree? By having the perspective of one action step a day, we can remove the pressure of needing to "do it all" right then.
Let's say you intend to work out everyday and eat healthy. Previously, you never worked out and probably ate two to three healthy meals a week. For you, the small step would be a light workout and one healthy meal or snack per day. By easing into your goals with a small action step, the change feels positive versus overwhelming.
4. Stay focused by using yoga kriyas
Yoga kriyas are wonderful ways to focus on intentions.
What is a yoga kriya?
A yoga kriya is a themed yoga set that aligns to a particular wellness goal. Youtube, Gaia, Amazon video, kriya yoga books, and online pdfs offer a wide variety of themed yoga sets. These sets are great for focusing on your intention because they not only promote your goal into the conscious mind, but also embed that goal in the physical body. Each body movement physically correlates to intention of that kriya.
For example, let's say your intention is to feel balance and harmony. A perfect yoga kriya for you is the kriya for balancing the head and the heart. Not only will it put this intention into your consciousness, but it will physically balance your head and heart. How cool!
5. Improve your concentration with meditation
Meditation is a wonderful way to focus on any task. It helps the mind stay in a calm and intentional place. Physically, it improves concentration of ones thoughts and feelings. To hone in on a particular goal, you can listen to a guided meditation.
For example, let's say you want to focus on incorporating the law of attraction. You can listen to a guided meditation for the law of attraction. Click here to view wonderful guided meditations with different themes.
These focusing tools are wonderful ways to increase your conscious focus. Not only do they promote your intention into your conscious mind, but they also are great ways to "catch" yourself if you drift of course for a little while.
