The ego is the Latin word for "I" and is defined as a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance. We are all connected to the universe because we are all alive. We all breathe in the air provided by earth. The ego doesn't recognize that you belong to the universe. It cannot know where you are going through life. It sees life as a duality.
