5 Foods for Immune System Support
The immune system is a network of organs, cells, and proteins that work together to protect the body of viruses, bacteria, or disease. When the immune system is working, we feel our bodies are properly functioning. On the contrary, being under active, we are more prone to disease and illness. 

How wonderful is it that we can keep our immune system strong through eating immune boosting foods. The following are foods help support the immune system and keep our bodies is a state of ease.

1. Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits are loaded with vitamin C.  Vitamin C is one of the most versatile vitamins needed to sustain life and is believed to boost the immune system. Many fruits and vegetables have vitamin C, citrus fruits are a very abundant source of it. ​

2. Ginger

Ginger is great for detoxification. Gingerols, a chemical found in ginger, stimulates blood circulation and opens the sinuses. The immune system is restored because oxygen travels through the body removing toxins and viruses.

3. Purple cabbage

Cabbage is loaded with B6 vitamins and vitamin C. B vitamins are known as the most important immune system vitamins. Did you know that cabbage is the main ingredient in most cough syrups? Cabbage helps to draw the disease out and dispose of it.

4. spinach

Free radicals are chemical groups found to cause cell damage in diseases. Antioxidants help combat the damaged cells. Spinach is contains a high source of antioxidants and is great to add to your daily meals. ​

5. tumeric

Inflammation is often a cause of disease. Turmeric is high in antioxidants and is an anti-inflammatory. In addition to helping fight against inflammation, the active ingredient found in turmeric, curcumin, is anti-viral and anti-fungal as well. Turmeric is top of the list for immune boosting! ​
